Rev. George A. Price
Pastor George A. Price was born to the late Deacon John T. Price and Rosa Lee Price. He was the youngest of 7 children.
Reverend George A. Price accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior in the year of 1946 and has served as Pastor of Saint Matthew Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL for over 50 years.
Pastor Price met the love of his life, Jennie, in 1968. Rev. B. H. Hartley joined them in marriage in 1970.
Pastor and First Lady Price have been blessed with 5 daughters, Qwendolyn Price, Debra Price (deceased), Teresa Price, Taccarra Price-Hastings, Megan Price and 1 son, John Thomas Price. They also share one grandson, Tristan G. Hastings.
Pastor Price attended Stanton High School graduating in the Class of 1955. He then joined the United States Air Force. He accepted his call to ministry in the year of 1957 while serving our country. He preached his initial sermon on Monday, August 19, 1957. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry at West End Baptist Church of San Antonio, TX. After his military discharge in 1959, he enrolled in the Guadeloupe Baptist Seminary in San Antonio, TX.
In 1960, he returned to the city of Jacksonville and his home church while continuing his Theological Training at B.F. Lee Theological Seminary at Edwards Water College. He graduated in 1963, receiving the Bishop John A. Gregg Award for the highest honor in the department of Theology. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Edward Waters College in Business Administration in 1970. He also has continued studies at Hampton University.

Since accepting the call to Pastor his home church, he has implemented many physical improvements. Mortgages were liquidated, a parsonage was purchased, and a modern three-story Educational Building erected. Through his vision additional properties were purchased and a new Sanctuary was built in 2014 to expand the ministry of Saint Matthew Baptist Church. Each building has been used for worship and to nurture the spiritual growth and development of those he serves.
The effectiveness of his ministry and the ministry of Saint Matthew Baptist Church can be seen throughout the community. Pastor Price is truly a servant after God’s own heart. He has dedicated his life to ministry and service. The results of his efforts have lead to the development and fruition of various ministries, pastors, and future generations of God’s servants.
